Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Enyimba, are set to face tough competition in the upcoming group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Enyimba have been placed in Group D with two Egyptian clubs, Zamalek and Al Masry, as well as debutants Black Bulls of Mozambique.
Zamalek, the defending champions of the competition, are expected to pose a significant challenge for Enyimba.
Note that the top two teams from the group will advance to the knockout round, adding to the pressure of the upcoming matches.
Enyimba’s qualification for the group stage came after a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso in the second preliminary round.
The People’s Elephants are aiming to make history by becoming the first Nigerian club to clinch victory in Africa’s second-tier club competition.
The group stage matches, scheduled to commence in November 2024, are highly anticipated and will undoubtedly be a test of skill and determination for all participating clubs.
Note that Enyimba of Aba are the only Nigeria Premier Football League club that are still participating in continental club competition this season.
The likes of Enugu Rangers and Remo Stars crashed out of the CAF Champions League preliminary round, while El-Kanemi Warriors crashed out of the Confederation Cup preliminary round.
