Obasanjo Writes Joe Biden To Delist Cuba As Country Sponsoring Terrorism

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, disclosed on Sunday that he once experienced a 25 percent hearing loss without realizing it, highlighting a common issue many face regarding hearing impairment.

During a visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman-Adamu, Obasanjo recounted his experience abroad when he struggled to hear someone speaking to him, initially believing his hearing was fine. A medical check revealed the extent of his hearing loss.

“After my result came out, I had to ask the man to also check on my Chief Security Officer then, but shockingly enough, he was more deaf than I was,” he shared, emphasizing the importance of regular medical check-ups for hearing capacity.

This personal experience contributed to the founding of the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation, which has partnered with Starkey Hearing Foundation to provide ear treatment and hearing aids to thousands of Nigerians.

Obasanjo announced plans to distribute hearing aids targeting approximately 10,000 indigent individuals in the Northeast, starting with 2,000 beneficiaries in Bauchi State.

This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for those suffering from hearing impairments, particularly in underserved communities.

The former president’s commitment to addressing health challenges reflects his ongoing dedication to public service and the welfare of Nigerians.
