The Nigeria Police Force has issued a high-security alert to formations in Kwara and Kogi States following intelligence suggesting a potential terrorist threat targeting the Omu-Aran area in Kwara and Yagba West in Kogi State.
Police commanders and Deputy Police Officers in Osun State have been directed to intensify surveillance and increase preventive measures, especially near the state borders.
Law enforcement officers are urged to heighten their patrol operations to deter any potential kidnapping activities in the affected areas.
According to a police wireless message accessed by SaharaReporters on Monday, the alert remains in effect for 72 hours.
The message, signed by the Directorate of Operations in Osun State Police Command, states: “TERRORISTS ATTACK X INTREP MINE INDICATES THAT TERRORISTS ARE ASSEMBLING TO LAUNCH ATTACK IN THE NEXT 72HRS ON OMU-ARAN KWARA STATE TO YAGBA WEST AXIS OF WESTERN KOGI STATE X ALL AREA COMMANDERS/DPOS IN OSUN STATE ARE TO BE AT RED ALERT X ESPECIALLY THOSE SHARING BOUNDARIES WITH KWARA AND KOGI STATES X YOU ALL ARE FURTHER DIRECTED TO PUT YOUR PATROL TEAMS AT ALERT AND ENSURE NO KIDNAPPING TAKES PLACE IN YOUR RESPECTIVE AOR X TREAT AS VERY IMPORTANT PLEASE X.”
