'It's A Huge Relief' - Eguavoen Reacts to Nigeria's Hard-Fought AFCON Qualifier Victory Against Libya

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have embarked on their journey to Libya for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday 4 encounter against the Libyan national team.

The Super Eagles’ chartered flight had a stopover in Kano before continuing to Benghazi, Libya, earlier today, October 13.

Originally, the plan was for the team to travel to Tripoli and then make a two-hour trip by road to Benghazi. However, this plan was changed to avoid unnecessary stress for the players and officials.

The match will take place at the 10,000-capacity stadium in Benina, located approximately 10 kilometers from Benghazi. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8 pm Nigeria time on Tuesday, October 15.

Note that the Super Eagles of Nigeria beat the Mediterranean Knights of Libya 1-0 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, in the first leg of the tie.

The victory helped the Super Eagles to remain at the first spot in Group D with seven points in three games, while Libya remained bottom of the group with just a point after three games.

If Libya loses to Nigeria on Tuesday night, it would be almost impossible for the team to qualify for the 2025 AFCON as they are currently a point behind third-placed Rwanda and five points behind second-placed Benin Republic.
